- (הֹופְיָא) אֹופְיָא f. (אוף; v. אנף; b. h. אָפַע) what is blown off, foam, froth. Ab.Zara 26a כי א׳ דימא Ms. M. (ed. דנהרא, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l., a. Ar. ed. Koh. s. v. אפי) as the foam of the Sea (river); (Ar. as logs on the river, v. אוּפְתָּא, אוּפֵי). Ib. 70b הוות נקיטא א׳ (Var. תופיא, ה׳, v. Rabb. D. S. a. l. note 20) she took the froth off. Ḥull.105b א׳ (Ar. ה׳).
